The Intralase®FS laser and Ziemer Z-Lasik® provide a computer controlled approach to the first step in your Lasik procedure, which is the creation of the flap. It is technology that has been approved for military pilots and astronauts.
With Intralase and Z-Lasik, the flap is created entirely by laser for more consistent and accurate results than possible with a microkeratome. By replacing the traditional approach with a silent, tiny beam of laser light, Intralase and Z-Lasik reduce the margin of error in flap thickness. It is most often used at Yaldo Eye Center to treat patients with thin corneas and is not appropriate or necessary for every patient.
