Contact lens wearer guidelines...
The following are guidelines for discontinuing contact lens wear before your pre-operative testing for any advanced vision correction procedure at Yaldo Eye Center:
| Soft contact lenses |
- 3 days |
| Soft toric contact lenses |
- 7 days |
| Gas permeable contact lenses |
- 2 weeks |
| PMMA lenses (hard contact lenses) |
- 2 weeks |
Failure to adhere to these guidelines could result in surgery being postponed. We cannot over emphasize the importance of following these guidelines.
Certain aspects of advanced vision correction are based on the curvature of the cornea. This measurement, called corneal topography, is performed during the patient's pre-operative testing at Yaldo Eye Center. Contact lens wear is known to alter the cornea curvature, resulting in a invalid corneal topography. It is imperative that patients adhere to the above guidelines. These are minimum guidelines. Some patients may need more time out of their contact lenses in order to obtain accurate measurements.
